About the Band: Jon and Marina Lindblom were both trained as classical musicians, having graduated from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY; and played together in the Savannah Symphony for many years. Naturally, their 9 children were all interested in musical instruments. In 2016, after a trip to the mountains of NC introduced our family to the sound of bluegrass for the first time, a bluegrass band was formed!
Headin’ Home Bluegrass is comprised of both parents and their four oldest children - making for a tight, fun-filled, ALL-family band! In the past 3 years, we have played at many different stages all over the Southern US. We’ve had the pleasure of playing at church services, festivals, outdoor performances, fundraisers, community events, nursing homes, private events, parties, receptions, rehearsals, and corporate functions. We’ve also played at both of the USA’s two biggest events in bluegrass: IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) in Raleigh, NC in both 2019 and 2020; and SPBGMA (Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America) in Nashville, TN in 2020 - where we placed semi-finalists in the 2020 International Band Championship!
The band name, Headin’ Home Bluegrass, is a representation of our main goal as a family: striving closer toward Jesus Christ and our eternal destiny of living with Him. Our slogan, “Bluegrass with a Destiny,” reflects our view of music as a ministry for God. We hope the message of our music blesses and encourages you on the road HEADIN’ HOME!
UPRIGHT BASS / LEAD & HARMONY VOCALS
Jon (dad) plays upright bass and sings lead and harmony vocals. His rock-solid rhythm is the backbone of our bluegrass groove! As our main lead singer, his singing is always a highlight as well. Jon tunes, moves, and services pianos for a living through his business 88 Keys Piano. He is a great leader to our family and band and we’re thankful for his godly vision. As our MC, Jon has an engaging way with crowds and is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat!
FIDDLE / HARMONY VOCALS
Marina (mom) plays the fiddle. She’s been playing the violin all her life, and holds degrees in violin performance, with a symphonic background. She has enjoyed the variety of branching out into bluegrass music, but still insists on cleaning the rosin dust off her fiddle every day! Marina writes much of our original music, and enjoys coming up with interesting and unique chord progressions to keep our band on its toes! She also teaches Kindermusik classes and homeschools her crew of nine, having already graduated the oldest two. Marina handles the bookings for our band, and is our community liaison for scheduling events.
RESO-GUITAR / BASS VOCALS
Luke (22) is our resophonic guitar (dobro) player! With influences such as well-known reso legends Jerry Douglas, Mike Witcher, and Rob Ickes, you’ll hear him shredding up those licks in every show! Luke also sings bass vocals. He works with the family business, 88 Keys Piano, and also enjoys repairing and reselling electronics on the side. Luke is our technical whiz; handling videos, cameras, recording gear, mics, and setup for our performances.
GUITAR / LEAD & HARMONY VOCALS
Libby (20) plays acoustic flatpick guitar. She counts Jake Workman and Bryan Sutton, her teachers, as her musical influences. Libby sings lead and harmony vocals as well and writes many of our original songs. In her spare time, she writes Christian stories, teaches children’s music lessons, and designs iMessage sticker apps (check out this app she built for bluegrass lovers)! Libby also handles most of the creative aspects of the band: logo design, website, marketing, photos, set lists, song arranging, and more!
MANDOLIN / LEAD & HARMONY VOCALS
Lucy (18) plays mandolin. From her powerful chop to her blazing-fast solos, she adds a sparkle to every song! Lucy studies with David Benedict and Jake Workman; and she loves her hand-built Doug Clark mandolin. She also sings lead and harmony vocals. Lucy keeps busy teaching children’s music lessons and selling handmade crafts on Etsy in her spare time. Whether it’s in a show or a rehearsal, Lucy finds the laughter in every situation and is a pro at keeping everybody happy!
Timothy (16) is our banjo player! His masterful picking, influenced by his teachers Noam Pikelny and Wes Corbett, keeps our music driving; while his fun yet steady personality always lights up the stage! Timothy enjoys playing his custom-built Randy Wood Featherlite Performance Banjo. He helps in the piano business, moving and servicing pianos. You might also catch him playing guitar with the band from time to time!
Meet The Brothers Five - our “junior band”!
Not to be forgotten, the rest of the family - making us 11 in all! Our five youngest boys have a bluegrass band of their own called “The Brothers Five”!
Linus, 14, plays guitar and fiddle. Logan, 13, plays bass and harmonica. Liam, 11, plays fiddle. Levi, 9, plays banjo. Leo, the youngest at 6, plays mandolin and always steals the show! All five brothers sing.
You’ll often see an appearance or two from the ever crowd-pleasing “Brothers Five” when you book a show by Headin’ Home Bluegrass!
